Who is Baby Yoda?
Baby Yoda, or rather Grogu as he had been affectionately dubbed by fans, is of the same species with Yoda, the famous Jedi Master in the original Star Wars trilogy. He was discovered by a group of Tusken Raiders on Tatooine and taken in by them. He was eventually found by a Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (played by Pedro Pascal), who decided to secure him from numerous enemies and factions that were looking for him for various reasons.
Grogu has revealed incomprehensible superpowers such as telekinesis, mind trickery, healing, and prescience. He shares a strong bond even with Din Djarin and other characters from “The Mandalorian” series such as Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), Cara Dune (Gina Carano), Greef Karga (Matt Lanter) himself from this very series, and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff). He often communicates with his own unique language and gestures, which have become iconic among fans.
What can we expect from the movie?
Certainly, without allowing all details of the plot to be revealed for good reason, fans should probably expect the film to shed more light on Grogu's origin and other adventures in the Star Wars universe. It will also feature some familiar faces from “The Mandalorian”, including of course Din Djarin himself, who will return for the film. The movie will also introduce us to new characters and locations that have never been seen before in “The Mandalorian”.

He has written scripts for movies like “Thor: Ragnarok”, “Hunt for the Wilderpeople”, and “Jojo Rabbit”.
Waititi has expressed his excitement about directing Baby Yoda’s movie on social media. He posted a picture of himself on Instagram, where he was holding the plush toy of Grogu, and captioned it: "I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing Baby Yoda to life on screen is extremely exciting."
